Indian Paintings - Madhubani Painting

I am very keen to learn about paintings around the world. On that phase I started my journey with Indian paintings.
Before 3 years ago, I read one blog about Indian paintings. I got quite astonished with huge varieties of Indian paintings!!!!. Because I did so many paintings but I didn't know these many types of paintings are there in Indian Art.Then I started digging myself with this topic.Still my research is going on…
India is a land rich for art, culture and tradition.It... has been the home of arts and crafts since prehistoric times and painting is no exception to this fact. Indian paintings are famous for its uniqueness and richness.
The history of Indian paintings started from rock art during prehistoric times in the caves of Central India, typified by those at the Bhimbetka rock shelters and rock-cut artificial caves, paintings at Ajanta and Ellora, extending as late as the 8th - 10th century CE. Ajanta and Ellora paintings are still stands out with its glory.

Today I would like to share with you all about one of the oldest paintings in India is Madhubani or Mithila painting.

Madhubani, or Mithila, painting is a folk painting of northern India. It is mostly practiced by women in the villages who have passed this art to their daughters through multiple generations. They paint pictures of nature and mythology to depict different events like birth, marriage, and cycles of life. Though this folk art has been practiced for centuries it started to gain national recognition only in the last few decades.
The origin can be traced to the time of the Ramayana, when King Janaka of Nepal ordered his kingdom to decorate the town for the wedding of his daughter, Sita, to Lord Rama.Still people are following this tradition during marriage ceremonies.
Painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments, and is characterized by eye-catching geometrical patterns.If you want to your children about Indian paintings you can teach this Painting. It's having lot of easy designs.

Kerala Mural Painting

Kerala mural paintings are the frescos depicting Hindu Mythlogy and legends, which are drawn on the walls of temples and churches in South India. The murals palette consists of five colours namely, yellow, red, green, black and white, prepared from mineral pigments and vegetables. The themes are depicted using common iconographic symbols from the Puranas like Ramayana and Mahabharatafrom the Hindu myt hology.

Masterful as a colorist and as a painter of light and atmosphere, his later work often achieved a remarkable degree of abstraction, and this has recommended him to subsequent generations of abstract painters. Kids have done wonderful work in the workshop.
